Our story dates back to 1955 , when this beloved ice cream stand first opened its windows as Lou’s Dari Creme. For decades, it has been a sweet stop for families, friends, and visitors passing through our beautiful community. In 2006, the business began a new chapter and became Mrs. Shake, continuing the tradition of serving smiles one cone at a time. 

Ice cream has always been about more than dessert — it’s about memories. From little league celebrations to first dates and family traditions, we are proud to be part of moments that matter. I am a lifelong resident of the Richfield Springs, New York area and a proud single mother who previously owned and operated a daycare, where caring for families became the heart of what I do. In 2021 I proudly purchased Mrs. Shake and began a new chapter by renaming it Suzy Q’s in Mohawk, NY for five wonderful years. Serving quality full food menu, ice cream treats, creating memories, welcoming a place where families gather. 

Our area is rich in history — even George Washington toured the Mohawk Valley in 1783 — and we are proud to continue building our own local legacy here. Family means everything to me. I am blessed with my son Carl Burdick III and his wife Nicole Burdick, my granddaughter Raegan, my daughters Sydney Burdick and Mackenzie Burdick, and since 2016, my partner Berri Shirley and his four boys — Drew, Adam, Ryan, and Reid. Our family is full of love, laughter, and support, and that same spirit carries into our business every day.

We continue to invest in improving our space for our customers. Suzy Q’s dining room was beautifully remodeled in Spring 2024, and in 2025 we added a new roof along with a welcoming seating area featuring lighting and music to enhance the experience for everyone who visits. At Suzy Q’s, we believe in hard work, warm smiles, and serving our community with pride.
